Lutherans Break Ground for Radio, TV Station

first_imgThe Lutheran Church in Liberia (LCL) yesterday broke ground for the construction of a denominational media duplex that would operate a radio and television station. The ground-breaking ceremony was held at the St. Peter Lutheran Church on 14th Street in Sinkor, Monrovia, where the stations will be constructed. It coincided with the climax of the Church’s 498th celebration of Reformation Day. Church leaders at the ceremony said the media outlet would help in catering to the spiritual needs of all Liberians especially its many members. The main objective of the media center, according to the authorities of the church, is to promote the kingdom of God through the spreading of the gospel as well as disseminating the teachings of the Lutheran Church. When completed, the stations will be named the Luther Radio/Television, in honor of the founder of the Lutheran Church, Martin Luther.According to some officials, the church has already procured some of the equipment for the radio and television outfit.Performing the ground-breaking ceremony, the Bishop of the Lutheran Church, Dr. Jensen Seyenkulo, said it was a blessing that the Lutheran Church is on the verge of building another legacy to the glory of the kingdom of God. He expressed the hope that the media establishments would be used to propagate God’s message to his people on earth.Bong County Senator Jewel Howard Taylor, who officiated, said that the stations should not be like other religious stations that are entangled in secularisms or propagating political activities, thereby ignoring the purposes for which they were established. She is of the conviction that the Lutheran media outlet, when completed, would be “voices of the voiceless.” She made an initial contribution of US$500.Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Power TV/Radio, Aaron Kollie, who is a member of St. Peter, pledged his professional expertise to help train those who will work for the Luther stations.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)last_img read more
